Michelle and I just spent a four day weekend in San Francisco and I am going through the nearly 500 pictures from the trip. We spent a day hiking in Muir Woods and then had a chance to check out Sausalito, CA. After eating in Sausalito and checking out the sites there we ended up on the Sausalito Ferry that would take us back to San Francisco. The ferry was packed and full of photographers on the outside decks taking pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, etc. As I was standing on the rear deck taking photographs one of the photographers stood next to me and started taking pictures. I caught a glimpse of something in her sunglasses and after she finished the shot I asked if she could take another one so that I could take her picture. Below is my Week 10 submission – if you look closely in Leigh’s glasses you see a reflection of the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance which is what first caught my attention when she was shooting. This shot was taken with my 16–35 f2.8 L lens so there is some  distortion here as she is literally standing right next to me.

Leigh is a photographer based in Atlanta, Georgia and her website can be found here: Leigh Germy Photography. Check out her work! Thanks to Leigh for being my Week 10 subject, sometimes it is just about being lucky to get the shot you are looking for!

My photograph for week 9 is of my friend Anita who competed in the figure category at the Natural Western USA Championships held at the Mesa Arts Center in Mesa, AZ. I actually shot at this event last year for another friend and this time I was a bit better prepared for the low lighting conditions inside.

Here is my favorite from the indoor shots and is my Week 9 photograph.

Anita has been training for this event for almost a year and the discipline required to compete at this level is something I am pretty sure I could never do  In addition to all of the training Anita did the design work on her costume. Congratulations Anita, we are all very proud of you!!
